Use the CGI
scripts on your server or on WebGenie's Secure Server.
The evaluation version will run only
via WebGenie's server. With the registered version you can have the option to
reside the CGI scripts on own server or continue to use WebGenie's server. For this, all
you have to do is check a radio button to select. There is no physical transfer
of CGI file to our server. Note: There is a monthly subscription fee for the
use of WebGenie's server
to run the CGI scripts.
No recurring fee is payable if the CGI resides on your server.
-
Mask selected form fields in copy email.
It is now possible to specify one
or more addresses in the 'Main Email Address' field and one or more in the 'Copy
Email Address' field. The latter address can be set to receive some form
input fields masked. For example, the card number can be masked in the copy
email.
-
Single or Multiple Page
Input
The input from a form can be
either emailed straight away or carried to another page, which has more input
fields, and continued until all inputs are collected. e.g. a multi-page input
for collecting user data, billing details, shipping details and credit card info
on separate pages. These sequential input pages can be edited to suit and
resided on your server even when the CGI runs off WebGenie's server.
-
Text or HTML Mail Format
It is now possible to specify
whether the input should be mailed as plain text file, HTML format or both. It
is also possible to use a template HTML to format the mail precisely how you
want it to look.
-
Uses your
mail server or automatically uses WebGenie's mail server if problem.
When the CGI is residing on your
server, it will try to use your mail server first. If any problem(s), the mail
will be automatically re-routed through WebGenie's server. This ensures that the
input is never lost due to server problems.
-
Store the
form input in file on server in comma or tab-delimited format.
This option lets you add the form
input cumulatively into a text file for later importing into a database or
spreadsheet. You can specify the fields to be stored. The CGI must reside on
your server.
-
Store the
form input in file and do not send the email.
Same as above except that no email
is sent. If concerned about security of email, you can choose this option to
write the data in file and view it via secure server connection.
-
Send the mail
with only the filled form fields or all.
Sending only the filled fields will
make the mail smaller and easier to read. On the other hand, sending all fields
will retain the order in which the fields appear.
-
Display the
mail contents to user
If checked, this will show the input
on the acknowledgment page. Useful if the user has to be able to print and keep
it as a record. It is possible to customize the looks, as well as define which
fields to be included in the acknowledgment/invoice page.
-
Customizable Acknowledgment/Invoice
Page
The page to be shown to the
visitor can be customized. For example, it can be formatted to appear as a
printable invoice. See the previous paragraph.
-
Mail a thank
you note
If checked, this will send a thanks
email to the visitor. If a text file containing the message is included, it will
be read into the message. Otherwise, the acknowledgment message typed into the
program will be used. Note: Use of text file for message requires the CGI to be
resided on your server.
-
Automatic
redirection
The acknowledgment page can be set
to show for specified number of seconds and then automatically redirected to
another URL. If no acknowledgment page is to be shown, just uncheck its button
or specify a value of 0 in the time delay field.
-
Customizable Colors and
Font for Pages
The colors and font to be used on
CGI-generated pages can be configured through color dialogs.
The enhancements in version 5 makes
CGI*Star Professional unique among all form handling software available.
