July 1998 E-Shopping is hopping Adelaide-based software developer, WebGenie, practices what it preaches when it comes to the Internet . WebGenie has created a new software package which allows even an amateur to design good-looking, interactive websites- just the thing for small companies chasing global sales. The program is called Shopping Cart – and WebGenie should know what it is talking about…. 80 per cent of its products are now sold in the United States through the Internet. The company’s founder, Dr. A. V. Sivaprasad, says WebGenie is now achieving significant success in other regions, including Europe, through the launch of multi lingual versions of its products. Launched in 1995, the company’s customers include such names as Compaq Computer, IBM Corporation, General Electric Corporation, Lockheed and Hewlett- Packard in Germany, and the U.S. WebGenie’s latest software allows customers to create interactive websites without having to know anything about HTML, the Hyper Text Markup Language, which normally requires hiring a specialist programmer/site designer. “ Our customers can create a website quickly and easily to see whether an idea works, then modify it to ensure it is meeting the needs of their customers,” says Dr Sivaprasad. |
