Sell in any language

Internet vendors can bow create dynamic shopping catalogues in any language using new "language configurable" software.

As well as allowing vendors to add a language for a particular target market, Shopping Cart professional includes a Cybercash interface and can create dynamic product catalogues on the fly using files on the Web site.

Developed by Adelaide-based software company WebGenie Software, the new product delivers several built-in languages and the Own language option, which allows vendors to configure a dialect of a built-in language.

WebGenie Software founder Dr. A.V. Sivaprasad said the shopping cart products demosntrated how the Internet could reverse standard product development cycles.

"We sold our products in 32 other countries before a single unit was bought in our home State of South Australia," Dr Sivaprasad said.

"One site, TUCOWS, (at www.tucows.com) gave us its highest rating - five stars - which put us in the same category as other top-selling Net software such as NetScape and HotDog."

Shopping Cart Professional comes with six built-in languages: English, French, German, Portuguese, Norwegian and Swedish.

"If you select Own Languages, Shopping Cart's scripts will be created in English initially, but the user can go in to edit those strings into their own language," Dr. Sivaprasad said.

"The next time they select the Own Language option, their own language will come up as the default."
