Q: Is there a way to put a "target=Frame2". If I want the link to open in a different frame than the one the drop-down menu is in? I can't figure out how to do this with your program.
A: The Link*Launch does allow frames. When linking the URLs and text, just specify the frame in the 'Display the page in this frame' box. topA: The latest version, available from our site, allows you to have any number of menus on the same page. topQ: I don't see a 'Display the page in this frame' box anywhere... please tell me exactly where this box is.
A: Try the 'New Page|Link URLs' dialog. Then on the bottom right hand corner there should be a box, with the string 'No_Frames'. Just replace it with your target frame name. topQ: " Warning: Number Of URLs and LINKS do not match. This may create erroneous links". This error occurs when I click on 'link urls', it brings up that dialogue box just fine... and as you know, the Webgenie links are in there as samples... however when i hit "save", it says: Even if I remove the extra url on the right, I still get this error message... why?
A: Link*launch counts even a blank line at the end. To verify, just highlight all lines and see where the cursor rests in each box. You can delete the last line(s) to make them equal in number. topQ: The cgi file is in a directory called cgi-bin, Should everything not point to that directory? I don't understand.
A: The first line in the CGI file is actually the name of the program that will run the CGI, and is usually /usr/local/bin/perl, but can be different on your server. Best to ask the sysadmin or do a UNIX command, 'whereis perl' to find out. The cgi-bin directory is where you place the CGI files. It will then be referred to in the form declaration line contained in your HTML file. topQ: I used your product on a page, it created the menu fine, but whenever I use the form I get a page that says, "HTTP 10 501 not supported".
A: This means your server is not configured to run CGIs. Your best bet is to use the JavaScript option to display the menu. topQ: The error comes up "Forbidden, you do not have permission to access this page". It comes up when I tried to install it on my pages, no matter which way I went I got an error. When I tried going UNIX, because that is what my server runs. I tried the cgi in ascii as well as binary. When I use Java I get a java alert that says "tU(and some numbers) is not defined. Can you help me out?
A: Don't be in despair! Use Link*Launch's JavaScript-based menu to get things working instantly. You can even test it from your local machine, before putting up the files on the server. topQ: I want the pages to show on the whole page, not just in a frame (whole page). I'm creating a web-site, using Front Page 98. When i use Link*Launch to add a drop down menu, the pages which the menu links to shows I in the same frame as the menu.
A: Just specify in the frames box in Link*launch the word, '_top' (no quotes) and recreate the HTML topA: Version 2.5 (the latest from our site) should allow you to specify the frame in a box at the bottom right corner of the HTML creating module. Just type in _top in that box. top
